The spatial growth management strategy involved a detailed spatial and technical survey of 14 towns along the scenic and environmentally sensitive Overstrand belt and developed a framework for growth and densification to guide future development in the area. This pioneering effort was awarded the SA Institute of Town Planning project award in 2010.
